Planned Giving, Endowment, and Stock Gifts

Planned gifts can be made to support Presentation's needs now, or for the future as a way to leave your legacy. Anyone can make a planned gift; below are two simplified options to consider.

  1. A gift in your will or revocable living trust. Working with your attorney you can discuss including a few simple sentences in your will or living trust to designate a gift to Pres. These gifts can be changed at any time if you change your time, as they do not go into effect until after your lifetime.

  2. A gift of your retirement plan assets. By designating Pres as the primary beneficiary on the designation form for a percentage (1-100) of your account's final value, you can make a tax-wise gift to support the mission of Presentation Academy.

  3. A gift of your insurance policy. Presentation Academy may accept gifts of life insurance provided Presentation and the donor reach a prior written agreement for the arrangement of payment for any required premiums.

Presentation Academy Endowment
An endowment gift to Presentation Academy today provides a brighter picture for our future. In the first two years of the endowment, the stocks in Presentation’s portfolio increased by 64%! To ensure our mission, Presentation Academy's Board of Trustees has contractually engaged Barlow Associates/Merrill Lynch to assist with the creation and management of Presentation's endowment. There are multiple ways to give to the endowment, each aligning with the donor's particular needs.

  1. Endowment gifts may take the form of cash, securities, or real or personal property. Due to the amount of work required for endowment management, Presentation asks that gifts to the endowment start at $25,000, either as a one-time gift or a multi-year pledge.

  2. Gifts to Presentation's endowment may be restricted or unrestricted. A portion of the annual income from unrestricted endowment gifts may be used to address immediate needs at Presentation.

  3. Presentation donors can restrict their gifts for a specific purpose through a quasi-endowment or restricted endowment. Reasons for restriction can include a named scholarship in memory of a loved one. Merit and need-based scholarships can be established.

Your Guide to Planned Giving
By including a gift to Presentation Academy in your plans, you can:

  • Feel secure about the future of your loved ones.

  • Maintain control of your assets for life.

  • Give more than you ever thought possible.

  • Make a positive impact on Pres Girls for years to come!

70.5 Minimum Distribution Rule

If you are 70½ years old or older and have an IRA, you have the ability to make a donation to Presentation and receive tax benefits in return. You can give a qualified charitable distribution from your IRA directly to a qualified charity such as Presentation Academy without being required to pay income taxes on the money.

This law no longer has an expiration date so you are free to make annual gifts to us this year and well into the future.

Contact your plan administrator to direct your required minimum distribution to Presentation. Contact Director of Development Elizabeth Ruwe for more information or with questions at eruwe@presentationacademy.org or call 502-583-5935, ext. 121.

Why Consider This Gift?

  • Your gift will be put to use today, allowing you to see the difference your donation is making.

  • You pay no income taxes on the gift. The transfer generates neither taxable income nor a tax deduction, so you benefit even if you do not itemize your deductions.

  • If you have not yet taken your required minimum distribution for the year, your IRA charitable rollover gift can satisfy all or part of that requirement.
