Louisville, KY (May 23, 2022) - Presentation Academy, Louisville’s original Catholic high school, is proud to announce the final eight projects of its 2022 Senior Independent Program (SIP). The projects, entirely designed and completed by students, range from a supernatural tale inspired by Louisville locations and folk tales, and a blog about sustainable eating practices, to a magazine about the reality of gentrification in Louisville, multiple printed braille books that will be donated to the Louisville School for the Blind, and a fashion show featuring new clothes made of sustainable, environmentally friendly fabrics. The projects can be seen online at https://pressip.weebly.com/.
The college preparatory school’s Senior Independent Program was started in 2014 to fill a niche for senior students who wished to study something they were passionate about, but, did not have time to pursue outside of school, work, and extracurricular activities. Since its inception, SIP graduates have gained unimaginable skills through their chosen projects and the dedication and drive needed to see their goals met and their projects completed. Pres students involved in SIP have written, directed, and produced plays and films; written and published cookbooks, novels, and guidebooks; planned and executed fund raisers and political rallies; conducted countless hours of research and interviews; and written and created vlogs and blogs among many other things. Students accepted into the Senior Independent Program are required to make connections outside of school and seek out mentors with special skills to guide them through the process of achieving their goals and creating a "finished product." Working for a full class period each day and countless hours outside of school, SIP students are given the opportunity to present the fruits of their labor at the annual SIP Presentation Night held each spring.
