HOPE stands for Human Outreach for Peace Everywhere
The club has 3 major roles:
Organize outreach to neighborhoods affected by violent crimes.
About once a month the club takes a small potted plant to the scene of a recent violent crime, and spends a few minutes praying for the victim, the criminal, and the neighborhood where the crime occurred. Club members meet shortly after the school year begins to decorate the clay pots HOPE will use with symbols of peace.
Quietly do Random Acts of Kindness in our school community.
Club members agree to do daily random acts of kindness without seeking recognition. The club members also organize a broader effort to increase kindness with the school community during Random Acts of Kindness week which occurs in early February.
Participate in various ministries for school liturgies and prayer services.
Club members serve as lectors, altar servers, Eucharistic ministers, gift bearers, musicians, etc. Interested members sometimes help in the planning of liturgies and prayer services throughout the school year, especially the prayer service for peace held near Sept. 11 each year.
