In the fall of 1995, Presentation Academy introduced an innovative leadership curriculum. This curriculum is layered over the existing curriculum. Each class will focus part of its instruction on leadership skills in the areas of ethics and values, planning, team-building, communications, problem solving and goal setting. Students will have opportunities for career shadowing, mentoring with working professionals, internships and opportunities for part-time employment.

Previous speakers include: Berry Winston Baye, Denise Vasquez Troutman, Elizabeth Kizito, Heather French Henry, Julie Hermann, Martha Layne Collins and Shirley Burns Powers. Speakers for the 2009-2010 school year have included:
| Dr. Deidre Hilliard ’94 | |
|
Dr. Hilliard attended Berea College where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology/Pre-Medicine. While At Berea, she volunteered for a summer at Augusta Victoria Hospital, working with Palestinian physicians in East Jerusalem and the West Bank. This experience was one of the many to help solidify her desire to enter medicine. Dr. Hilliard’s ideas inspired Presentation students to believe in themselves and to “always dream big, and to follow your dreams.” |
