ACADEMIC ELIGIBILITY Per the Kentucky High School Athletic Association (KHSAA), we conduct weekly grade checks on all our athletes. Your daughter MUST be passing all of her classes in order to be eligible to participate in athletics. The first failing grade places her on probation, which means she can still practice and play but MUST bring that grade up to passing before the next grade check. If she is failing any class at the next grade check, she may be put on suspension. Once on suspension, she will be unable to practice or play until she is passing all her classes. This could eventually lead to being expelled from the team.
COST/FUNDRAISERS It is very expensive to run a program of this size, with officials, facility rentals and fees being the bulk of the expenses. Therefore, each athlete must pay a $50 sports fee for each sport they play. This fee helps offset the cost of operating the program and MUST be paid before a uniform can be issued. Please make checks payable to Presentation Academy.
Individual teams can also participate in fundraisers with the money raised going directly to the team for “extras” that they may want or help pay to attend a team camp. All fundraisers MUST be approved by the Athletic Department.
ABSENCES/TARDIES If your daughter is absent from school she is not eligible to practice or play that day. Also, she must be at school 4 out of the 7 hours in order to participate that day. That is any 4 out of 7 hours throughout the day, whether they arrive late, leave early or leave and return.
PHYSICALS/PARENT PERMISSION FORMS Each athlete MUST have a sports physical on the official KHSAA physical form before they can participate in any sport. This physical is good for the entire year, however, a separate parent permission form MUST be completed for each sport played.
TEAM DOCTOR/TRAINER We have a team doctor and a trainer available to your daughter. Dr. Becker, Associate Director of UofL Sports Medicine Fellowship, visits the school one day a week to see any athlete that needs attention. Doug Means who is affiliated with KORT at Baptist East Hospital is another member of the staff that works with Dr. Becker and is located at the training room in Spalding University.
INSURANCE The school maintains insurance on your daughter. It is secondary coverage and goes into effect after your primary insurance pays. It covers accidents or injuries while in school, practice or games. A specific form MUST be filled out if an injury does occur and can be picked up from the main office. Forms must be returned within 30 days of injury.
UNIFORMS/EQUIPMENT ALL uniforms and school equipment MUST be turned in at the end of each season. It MUST be clean and in good condition. Failure to turn in any uniform and/or equipment will be cause for reimbursement for the missing items.
PRES WEAR Various types of Pres merchandise are available throughout the year at school in the bookstore. The athletic department benefits from the sale of these items, so please visit the store on M & W from 2:30-4:00 and T & Th from 7:30-8:00. The first and third Fridays the hours of operation are 2:30-4:00.
TEAM PICTURES Team pictures will be taken for each team. Team pictures, along with individual pictures can be purchased from the photographer. Forms will be sent home with your daughter outlining the details.
BANQUETS There will be a sports banquet held at the end of each season to honor our athletic teams. Individual awards and recognition will be given out at this time.
RESPECT Please remind your daughter that she needs to address her coach as “Coach (last name)” and not by their first name only or “Coach (first name)”. This shows more respect to the coach and helps enhance the coach-player relationship. Respect toward coaches, officials, players, opposing teams and fans, is expected from the Presentation Academy supporters. Coaches, athletes, and parents, represent Presentation and how others perceive the school. Be a positive reason to why others will want their daughters to be a part of the Pres family!
