One of the long-standing traditions of Presentation is being a member of Chorus. Since the days of Sister Mary Ruth McFarland, students have had the opportunity to sing in Chorus all four years of their high school. Today, over 90% of the students are members, striving to maintain the excellence for which this program has long been known.
Students are encouraged to participate in select groups that are listed below. They are also encouraged to broaden their musical experiences by participating in Drama Department productions, audition for Governor's School for the Arts, and various other singing opportunities. Students who play musical instruments are invited to share their talents at school concerts and the drama productions.
FRESHMEN (Chorus I) All freshmen are required to take two semesters of Chorus. It is designed to give the students an experience in group singing and learn the basics of vocal production. They are required to perform in the Christmas and Spring Concerts.
SOPHOMORES (Chorus II) This course builds on the knowledge acquired in Freshmen Chorus.
ACADEMY CHOIR This is an advanced choir for Freshmen and Sophomores. This group rehearses once a week after school and performs in the school concerts.
JUNIORS AND SENIORS Students will audition for TOWER CHORUS and rehearse during the school day. They will sing for the school concerts and also various community functions.
PREZETTES Juniors and Seniors audition for this group. They also rehearse during the school day and perform for concerts and various civic functions.
