Theology I
1 Credit – 2 semesters
Required course for 9th grade
Semester 1: The Revelation of Jesus Christ in Scripture
This course will provide students with a general knowledge and appreciation of the Sacred Scriptures. As the Bible is studied, students will encounter the living Word of God and learn about how the Bible is authored by God through Inspiration and its value to people throughout the world. They will become familiar with the major sections of the Bible and the various books included in each section while focusing specifically on the Gospels.
Semester 2: Who is Jesus Christ?
This course is designed to introduce students to the mystery of Jesus Christ, the Living Word of God, the Second Person of the Trinity, and the Revelation to us from God. In learning about Jesus, the students will also learn who he calls them to be.
Freshman Service: Five hours of Community Service.
Theology II
1 Credit – 2 semesters
Required course for 10th grade
Semester 1: The Mission of Jesus Christ (The Paschal Mystery)
This course is designed to help students understand all that God has done for us through his Son, Jesus Christ. Students will learn that God has a plan for us to share eternal happiness, which is accomplished through the redemption Christ won for us. They will also be introduced to what it means to be a disciple of Christ and what that entails.
Semester 2: Jesus Christ’s Mission Continues in the Church
This course focuses on the fact that in and through the Church, we encounter the living Christ. Students will be introduced to the events and sacred nature of the Church as they come to know that the Church is the living Body of Christ today.
Sophomore Service: Ten hours of service at one’s school or church community.
Theology III
1 Credit – 2 Semesters
Required course for 11th grade
Semesters 1 & 2: Catholic Moral Teaching
This course assists students with skills vital for making informed moral decisions. Life issues ranging from abortion to euthanasia will be examined and discussed as students learn the moral concepts and precepts that govern the lives of Christ’s disciples.
Junior Service: Fifteen hours of service at an agency that provides acts of mercy.
Theology IV
1 Credit – 2 Semesters
Required course for 12th grade
Semester 1: Peace and Justice
This course explores the roots and traditions of the Church’s Social Teaching. Students will learn how Christ’s concern for others, especially the poor and needy, is present in the Church’s teaching and mission.
Senior Service: Twenty hours of service at an agency that provides acts of justice.
Semester 2: Christian Life Choices
This course offers the student the opportunity to develop an increased awareness of herself as a woman who is emotionally, spiritually, physically, and professionally unique. Students will explore the various roles she currently plays and will play in her various communities as she lives out her unique vocation.
